Garden Ollas
About Garden Ollas
Ollas (“Oy-yahs”)—are an ancient and effective method of irrigation for today’s gardeners. Handcrafted from a terracotta clay and fired to a specific temperature, these unglazed pots have the unique ability to allow water to permeate through their walls, without simply dripping out, providing a consistent source of moisture for plant roots to thrive (especially tomatoes!).
Embrace the practice of sustainable gardening and experience the benefits of water conservation season after season. Please see olla care for plant compatibility in the FAQ‘s olla section.
Sandra Lee Pottery offer ollas seasonally – around tomato planting time. These ollas are rustic and each is unique as they are not cast in molds. They range from 2L to 4L in capacity.
For larger ollas or matching ones, please see Mayne Island Clay Works. Ollas are also available online through larger manufacturers.
